Behavioral Health

The Office of Licensing and Accreditation within the Department of Social Services, accredits Behavioral Health Providers who offer Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Prevention Programs and Community Mental Health Centers. Accreditation ensures the health and safety of individuals seeking services from these programs by regularly monitoring compliance with Administrative Rules of South Dakota.

Accredited Behavioral Health Programs

The following are the types of Behavioral Health programs that a provider can be accredited for. Click on each one to learn more.

Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program

Substance Use Disorder Treatment Programs are accredited by the Office of Licensing and Accreditation for one or more of the following levels of care:

  • Prevention Programs
  • Early Intervention, Outpatient, and Intensive Outpatient Treatment
  • Day Treatment
  • Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Treatment
  • Clinically Managed Residential Detoxification
  • Medically Monitored Intensive Residential Treatment
Community Mental Health Centers

The following Community Mental Health Center levels of care are accredited by the Office of Licensing and Accreditation:

  • Outpatient Services
  • Child or Youth and Family Services (CYF)
  • Comprehensive Assistance with Recovery and Empowerment (CARE)
  • Community Support Services Program – Individualized Mobile Programs of Assertive Community Treatment (IMPACT)
